Our Activities
SENIOR CITIZENS HOME (MAINTENANCE) AT GOLAGHAT:
No one salutes the setting sun. In the morning as dawn breaks, we offer prayers to the rising sun. The rising sun signifies new hope and energy. But has anyone realized that the setting sun has done its day’s work and is now on its way below the horizon for a well-deserved rest? Our elders are this golden glow of the setting sun. Nearing their end, they are looking forward to well-deserved rest and recreation. Many aged people who have completed their duties, now have reached the end of their life. They deserved sufficient care & protection. But their own family members neglect them. The organization is running a Senior Citizens Home at Bengena Khua, Dist. Golaghat(Assam), with financial assistance from the Govt. of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. At present, there are 25 nos. aged persons in the Senior Citizens Home. They do not have any legal guardian to look after them or there is nobody to take their responsibility. They are socially neglected, and unconjured and even their own family members are also not willing to take care of them. So, they have come out of their home. We provide such aged persons shelter, nutritious food, proper medical checkups with medicines, recreation and other facilities as per their needs.
MAINTENANCE OF SENIOR CITIZEN HOME AT KAMRUP- METRO
The Organization has been running a Senior Citizen Home at Bagharbari, Kamrup(Metro), Assam, since 1st April 2016 with a capacity of 50 Elderly women from its own source. But in the year 2019-20, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment provide the Grant-in-aid to the organization (w.e.f. 30/03/2020) to smoothly run the project. At present, there are 50 older persons were enjoy all facilities provided by the organization like shelter, nutritious food proper medical checkups with medicines, recreation and other facilities as per their needs.
NIGHT SHELTER HOME:
The Organization is running a Night Shelter Home V.I.P. Road, Chasal, Dist. Kamrup Metro (Assam) under the aegis of the Directorate of Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam for shelterless people with having capacity of 25 NOs. The organization is taking up all possible measures to provide basic facilities such as potable water, toilets, bedding, food, clothes, washing machines, medical aid etc. and providing homeless people with night stay, and security for the vulnerable.
The objectives of the projects:
1) Ensure availability and access of the homeless population to permanent shelters including the basic infrastructure facilities like water supply, sanitation, safety and security.
2) Cater to the needs of especially vulnerable segments of the urban homeless like the dependent children, aged, disabled, mentally ill and recovering gravely ill by creating special sections within homeless shelters and provisioning special service linkage for them.
3) Provide health care for the homeless and destitute to curb vulnerability to health diseases and others.
4) Streamline the homeless person through development initiatives so that they become self-reliant.
SHAKTI SADAN (SAMARTHYA) FOR EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN (FORMERLY SWADHAR GREH):
The organization has been running a Swadhar Greh for Women and Children at PANCH ALI, JIBON TAMULY PATH WARD NO. 12,P.O. GOLAGHAT, DIST. GOLAGHAT(ASSAM), PIN.785621 Golaghat Since 2009 with the financial support of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India and Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of Assam. There are 50 women along with their own children having problems like insecurity, Marital maladjustment, dowry problems, family discord etc. We provide primary needs like shelter, food, clothing and care to the women and children. We also provide socio-economic support, emotional support, counselling and rehabilitate them socially and economically through education, skill gradation and personality development, helpline or other facilities to the women in distress and other services as required. Rehabilitation is one of the major activities under the scheme. And also running different districts of Assam Swadhar Greh for Women and Child at Kamrup(Rural), Charaideo, and Karbianglong from organization own sources.
SHAKTI SADAN (SAMARTHYA) FOR EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN (FORMERLY UJJAWALA HOME):
The Organization is running a Ujjawala Home for Women & Children for the victims of trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation under the scheme of Ujjawala (a Comprehensive Scheme for Prevention of Trafficking and Rescue, Rehabilitation and Re-Integration of Victims of Trafficking for Commercial Sexual Exploitation) at PANCH ALI, JIBON TAMULY PATH WARD NO. 12, P.O. GOLAGHAT, DIST. GOLAGHAT(ASSAM), PIN.785621 since 2015-16 covering 50 number of victims. The programme is running with financial assistance from the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India and Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of Assam.
INTEGRATED REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR ADDICTS:
The organization has been running a 15-bed IRCA at Bengenakhua, Golaghat since 1st April’2015 with financial assistance from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India. We provide services including awareness generation, identification, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation to 874 nos. addicted people with a view to reducing the consumption of alcohol & drugs & dependence-producing substances & undertaking preventive education programmes.
HOME FOR MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN AT GOLAGHAT, KARBIANGLONG AND WEST KARBIANGLONG:
The Organization is running a home for Mentally Retarded children at Golaghat, Karbianglong and West Karbianglong, Assam with financial assistance from the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of Assam. The objectives of the projects are: i. To undertake a proper assessment and diagnosis of each child. ii. To identify the psychological and therapy needs of the child. iii. To assess the capacity of each child and thereafter place them in groupings and grades. (The prescribed standard and instruction of NIMH regarding the development of Special Schools will be kept in view). iv. To manage the behavioural problems and to impart special skills, self–help skills, and cater to the therapy needs of mentally challenged children. v. To manage the educational and vocational needs. vi. To give special input for the improvement of the communication skills of the MR Child. vii. Trained Teachers – with desirable minimum qualifications prescribed and recognized by the RCI who are well attuned to the specific needs of mentally challenged children. viii. To apply the single window concept of providing for the plurality of therapy needs of the beneficiaries. RCI-recognized BRS graduates who can provide for the above viz, speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy as well as psychotherapy and parental counselling are encouraged to be recruited. Efforts will be made to use their services and dispense with the practice of hiring persons separately for each of the therapeutic services.

DISTRICT DE ADDICTION CENTRE (DDAC):
The organization has been running District De Addiction Centre at Baksa District of Assam with the financial assistance from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India since 2017. During the year 745 nos. beneficiaries are examined; provide shelter, food, medicine and treatment cum rehabilitation from the center. The organization has Create awareness, identification, counseling, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts with a view to reduce the consumption of alcohol & drugs and dependence producing substance, undertake preventive education programme. The organization has organized awareness programmes in above districts.
SHELTER HOME FOR PERSONS ENGAGED IN BEGGING
The Organization is running a Shelter home for persons engaged in begging Kamrup Metro District with the financial assistance from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. During this year 50 Nos. beneficiaries benefited from the home.
The objective of Scheme:
- To make ‘Bhiksha-Vritti Mukt Bharat’ (begging-free) and make a strategy for comprehensive rehabilitation of persons engaged in begging through coordinated action of various stakeholders such as Central and State Governments, local bodies, NGOs working in the field, social activists and public at large.
- Survey and identification of persons engaged in begging.
- Mobilization of persons engaged in begging.
- Provision of whole range of basic services for the persons engaged in begging such as shelter, rehabilitation, substance abuse prevention, hygiene, food, clothing, bedding, medical facilities, counseling and education.
- To facilitate skill development training to the persons engaged in begging so as to ensure their
- reintegration in the mainstream society to lead a life with dignity and self-confidence.
- Liaising to provide legal care and psychological counseling, especially in case of substance
- abuse to enable them to take steps for their reintegration into their families society
- vii. Sustainable settlement of the persons engaged in begging and improve the overall health and well-being of the target population, especially people affected with leprosy and substance abuse.
SHAKTI SADAN(SWADHAR GREH AND UJJAWALA HOME) AT KAMRUP(RURAL),CHARAIDEO AND KARBIANGLONG:
The Organization is running three numbers of Swadhar Greh for women and Ujjawala Home in difficult circumstances at kamrup(Rural),Charaideo and Karbianglong from the organization own sources. The organization is successfully running the home with 50 inmates and children, widow, trafficked women & girls, homeless, divorced, release from prison, victims of sexual crimes, victims of terrorism, extremist violence, women in moral danger etc. are the category of beneficiaries of this programme. Shelter, Vocational Training, Non-Formal Education, Counselling & guidance etc. are provided to the inmates of the Swadhar Greh for women and Ujjawala Home.
MOBILE DISPENSARY FOR STS:
The organization working for the welfare of schedule tribes a Mobile Dispensary for STs is running from its own sources since 2017 covering the entire Golaghat districts tribal populated areas and a positive response in this regard has been received from the tribal people. This year we have covered 3256 Nos. (Male 1870 & Female 1386 No.) STs people and provide them with free health checkups with medicines and counselling by the engaged Doctor.
DISTRICT DE ADDICTION CENTRE (DDAC):
The organization has been running Four District De Addiction Centre at Golaghat, Karbianglong, and Kamrup District of Assam from its organization own sources since 2017. During the year 1026 nos. (Total above DDAC) beneficiaries are examined; provide shelter, food, medicine and treatment cum rehabilitation from the center. The organization has Create awareness, identification, counseling, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts with a view to reduce the consumption of alcohol & drugs and dependence producing substance, undertake preventive education programme. The organization has organized awareness programmes in above districts of Assam. Poster campaigns were also organized; IEC materials were developed and distributed amongst the people.
LIVELIHOOD PROGRAMMES:
Golaghat Nirman mahila Gut NGO believes in helping individuals live a life of dignity. To achieve this, our livelihood programmes focus on generating sustainable livelihoods. This is done through capacity building, fostering community links and promoting small businesses. The Organization puts special focus on entrepreneurial ventures, which are owned by women. The organization through its livelihood programmes promote capacity building amongst the SelfHelp-Groups. It also fosters linkages between community collectives and financial institutions. The organization also focuses on improving the literacy, numeracy and critical thinking skills to promote sustainable livelihoods.
MOBILE HEALTH CARE PROGRAMME:
One Mobile Health Care programme for the BPL Families is running by the organization since April’2016 from its own sources. This year 2489 nos. of Male 1368 Nos. and 1121 Nos. of Female aged person’s health checkup were completed within the district. A well response has been received from the aged persons. Under this programme Health Check up with free medicines were provided in the rural uncovered & remote areas.
EMPLOYMENT CUM-INCOME GENERATING PROGRAMME:
Unemployment is one of the burning problems not only in India but its impact has spread out around the globe. In order to reduce this problem, Government has taken various initiatives. Apart from that, Vocational Education has been introduced by setting up various Technical Institutions within Govt. & Non-Govt. level and the people have also given a good support to the efforts made by the Government. Our organization has implemented various vocational trainingcum-production programmes.
HANDICRAFTS AND HANDLOOM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES:
The organization is running a Handicrafts Development Project on Artistic Textile (Handloom), Hand Embroidery, Cane & Bamboo, Zariworks with a view to promote handicrafts by developing the skills of artisans on the clusters for professionally managed and self-reliant community enterprise on the principles of effective member participation and mutual cooperation. However, for effective implementation of the programme the organization has so far conducted so many activities such as exhibition on handicrafts products, development of design & technology workshop, skill up gradation training etc. in association with different agencies, NGOs,etc.
HEALTH CHECK-UP CAMP FOR MOTHER & CHILD:
The organization has organized a camp on mother & child health care in the month of November’2023. During the programme emphasis was given on strengthening the health & family welfare service, delivery system with particular to mother and children it includes systematic intra natal, post natal, child health, immunization and primary care etc.
PROMOTION OF SELF-HELP GROUP AND FORMATION OF CLUSTER:
Based on the concept of unity & strength our organization came forward to promote the formation of Self-Help Groups in Bengenakhua and its surrounding villages. We organized public meetings at various places to train people about cash book operation, opening of bank account etc. and provided counseling & guidance for SHG formation. During the year 2023-24, we have able to form another 70 nos. of SHGs in addition to the 40 nos. SHGs formed during the last year and we are in a process of forming more and more such SHGs in the coming days and the organization mobilized the community for the formation of SHG Cluster at Golaghat District. At the same time organization also provided training on micro finance to the SHGs which included group management, book keeping, accounts etc. The organization also opens a saving bank account for each SHG to make deposit their saving safely.
GOATERY TRAINING:
For the Welfare of marginal women folk who are engaged in Goatery farming in Golaghat District, Assam. And the organization has provided goatery training programme at Bangenakhua in the month of February’2024. During the programme the Resource Person imparted valuable ideas about the goatery waste management technique and scientific method of rearing their livestock. Many villagers have participated the programme and acquire knowledge regarding the taking care of their livestock.
- Sensitization and mobilization of underprivileged women on goat farming as means of alternative livelihood option.
- Provide technical inputs to promote innovative goat farming and production and inculcate market-oriented livestock production with support and other assistance for their economic upliftment under the project.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CHILD NUTRITIONS:
The organization has conducted awareness programme on child nutrition in the month of October’2023 at Bengenakhua, Golaghat district, Assam.More than 270 Nos. participated were present in the programme.

PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED HEALTH CHECKUP PROGRAMME:
Physically handicapped child health care programme was organized by Golaghat Nirman Mahila Got NGO in Golaghat district, Assam. The programme was facilitated by the child specialist Doctor from Golaghat Civil Hospital. During the emphasis was given to strengthening the health & family welfare survive, mother and child in it includes child health, immunization and primary medical care of mother & child before and after birth.
HELTH CHECK UP FOR STREET CHILDREN:
Child health care programme for street children was organized by Golaghat Nirman Mahila Got NGO in Golaghat district, Assam. The programme was facilitated by the child specialist Doctor from Golaghat Civil Hospital.
SC/ST AND MINORITY STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAMME:
The organization has implemented various programmes for the welfare of the SC/ST AND MINORITY STUDENTS of Golaghat district, Assam. The organization has provided free coaching computer training and scholarship programme. The organization has given preference to those who are belong to BPL class.
AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME:
The organization has conducted an agriculture development programme at Benganakhua Golaghat district. 81 Nos. of villagers attend the programme. Resource person from Agriculture Department their valuable speech regarding the planting procedure and the planting time, land development activities were basically cultivators there were many others who attended the programme and got benefited.
YOGA CAMP:
The organization has organized Yoga Training Workshop at different places of Golaghat District, Assam. The programme was held at Schools and colleges in the district. Different posters/asanas and its benefits were taught to the participants namely:
- Surya Namaskar: It balances and revives the whole system of the body it makes breathing smooth and rhythmic which help in supplying pure blood to the brain at the same time prevents degeneration of the pineal gland.
- Bhujangaasana: This posture helps in toning nerves and muscles of heart, abdomen and back. Above all it is a great aid in curing female diseases like leucorrhoea menstrual problems etc.
- Shalabhasana: It helps in blood circulation along the flexor, its accurate practice results in diminution of surplus fat accumulation on hip and buttocks.
- Pashchimottanasana: It revitalizes nerves, muscle of the front side of the spine and also those of the hands, legs and of the anal region. It reduces weakness and makes the body strong and active.
- Ardhachakrasana: It gives proportionate development of chest and body at the same time reduces surplus fats.
- Shavasana: Quickly relives the body of all strain and prepares it for fresh tasks. It can be utilized as a substitute for sleep. Besides physical demonstration fruits and sprouts were distributed amongst the children.
ON HIV/AIDS AND DRUG ABUSE & DEADDICTION:
The organization conducted 4(Four) Nos. Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and DrugAddiction and HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme at Bengenakhua with the help of another sister organization. More than 340 Nos. of people attend in all the camps. The main objective of the programme is to create awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Leaflet containing information of HIV/AIDS and condoms were also distributed amongst the trucker.
CULTURAL PROGRAMME:
The organization has conducted cultural activities on various occasions to promote cultural talents in the area. Further, the organization has organized one act play, street plays and puppet show with Nukkad Natak in the road show of Bengenakhua Chariali to generate awareness among the people. Focusing on gender discrimination, alcoholism, literacy, and consumer rights and duties and women welfare. The response was found to be very good in all the cultural activities.
SPORTS PROGRAMME:
The organization has organized sports activity in Bengenakhua, Golaghat, during the year to provide scope to the sports persons and students, so that, and they can develop their attitude in the sector. Sports goods are provided from organization sources and the brilliant sports persons are given scope to participate in State/ National events.
AWARENESS CAMP ON ‘SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN’:
The Organization has organized Awareness Camp on ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’ Campaign at Golaghat and Kamrup-Metro district in Assam where experts from PHE delivered their lectures on Swach Bharat Abhiyan. More than 412 local people & others officials from different department attended the Awareness Camp.
COMMUNITY BASED PEER LED INTERVENTION (CPLI):
The organization is running a Community Based Peer Led Intervention (CPLI) at Golaghat in Assam since 2017 form organization own sources. Through these programmes, youth would be trained as Peer Educators to lead peer led community intervention and implement early prevention education especially for vulnerable adolescents and youth in the community. This programme would also provide referral and linkage to counseling, treatment and rehabilitation services for drug dependents identified in the community.
LIBRARY SERVICES:
The organization is running a Public Library at Bengenakhua from its own sources where various types of facilities have been provided to the educated people such as reading books, magagines,News papers, periodicals and other relevant and up to date information related to current issues for the development of knowledge of the educated people.
